Beware, Lead Can Make Child Stupid!

Intellectual and emotional development of children can be damaged by the level of lead in blood, although in the threshold that is considered safe. Therefore, the content of lead in blood that is safe (10 micrograms per deciliter) should be lowered below 5 micrograms per deciliter.
Scientists from the University of Bristol, London, as reported by Reuters, studied a sample of 500 children and found a clear relationship between blood lead levels with academic achievement and behavior of children aged 7 and 8 years.
Content of lead in blood is higher in children aged 30 months, causing the child is weak in a good achievement in reading, writing, and spelling in children. Their achievement under the standard assessment tests (Standard Assessment Tests), a recognized standard test in that age group in England.
