Autism Vaccine Not Related to MMR
September 26, 2009
The debate about the existence of a link between the MMR vaccine with autism disorders to surface again. This time the experts provide additional evidence that shows no link between the MMR vaccine in children austis cases.
Based on data issued by the NHS Information Center, known to one of the 100 adults who live in the UK have autism disorders, but so far the disease was identical with the children.
Therefore, experts believe if the MMR vaccine has been blamed for autism, then the number of children suffering from autism should be higher because the new MMR vaccine is given to the public since the 1990s.
“This research report is the first major study in the world to include adults in the autism spectrum prevelansi event,” said Tim Straughan, chief of the NHS Information Center.
According to Straughan, although the study sample is not too much, but this study confirms that the number of autism cases is not increasing and prevelansi cases in adults in parallel with the case of children. “The results of this research showed no link between MMR vaccine and autism conditions,” he said.
In a recent study conducted on 7500 adults revealed that the autism spectrum can occur in people of all ages. An estimated 1 percent of adults have autism spectrum disorders and Asperger syndrome.
Just as in children, in adults it happened rates higher in men (1.8 percent) than in women (0.2 percent). According to this study, people with autism disorders have many problems, especially to interact with others and communicating feelings.
Meanwhile, UK Department of Health spokesman said there was still no strong evidence showing a link between autism and MMR vaccine. “MMR vaccine has been used extensively and safely around the world for over 30 years and this is the best way to protect children from measles, mumps and rubella,” he said.
Although the MMR vaccine safety has been proved by various studies in foreign countries, including post-marketing surveillance for 30 years to 250 million doses of MMR vaccine in more than 40 countries in Europe, Asia, America and Australia, but until now there are many parents who are not willing mengimunisasikan children with the MMR vaccine.
